Rob Gronkowski was surprisingly noncommittal when he was asked after the Super Bowl if he will return to the New England Patriots in 2018, but could that actually mean the star tight end is considering a career change?

According to a report from Bill Burt of local Massachusetts newspaper The Eagle-Tribune, Gronkowski is thinking about giving up football to pursue a career in acting. Gronk has supposedly spoken with Hollywood legends Sylvester Stallone and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who told him they believe he could make millions if he starred in action films.

Burt also reports that Gronkowski has told friends that injuries have taken a toll on him, which makes sense. With the concussion that knocked him out of the AFC Championship Game, Gronkowski has now suffered just about every significant injury a football player can have. The 28-year-old has torn his ACL, broken his arm and undergone back surgery on three different occasions since college.

In some ways, it isn’t all that shocking that Gronkowski would consider retirement. He has said in the past that he is very responsible with money and hasn’t spent a dime of his NFL earnings, using just endorsement money to this point. The Gronkowski family is extremely popular and owns a successful fitness company, so Rob likely isn’t worried about money when making a decision about his NFL future.

Between the heartbreaking loss in the Super Bowl and the mess Gronkowski returned to at his home in Foxboro, the All-Pro currently has a lot on his plate. Don’t expect him to make a final decision about his future anytime soon.

I'm not sure what to think.

He's been injured so much it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to hang up his cleats.

But he's so talented with so much left in the tank.

Odds of an acting career working out are probably slim.

i think he will. he is one of the more recognizable faces of the nfl and has a future based on his personality to do something in acting. im not a huge fan of his off the field but he seems to be a popular guy who can make some money outside of football. already a hall of famer and likely the best ever at the position so likely a good time to leave the game when your still healthy.

In my professional opinion he should retire.

As should Bellichick, Brady, Stephon Gilmore, and Malcolm Brown.

I only care about their lives after football

Gronk is a likeable guy though and probably gets hot pussy every other day. Tall, good looking, rich, muscular, famous.

Him and his Brothers were on Shark tank last season, they have a company that makes Shaker Bottles, ARod & Cuban bought in for 15%

also he has been on a couple of shows already, small parts, and doesn't need the money.
They say he has kept every paycheck he has received.

So I think he will be alright with whatever he does. and agree with Hache, he has so much left in the tank... it would be sad to see him go. But those Hits can add up

My guess is he just wants a raise. He’s never broken the bank with a contract because of all the injuries he’s had.

I think its funny they had Arod on Shark Tank. Only did it because he is "Latin American" or whatever you call it these days. ABC is hardcore liberal and would use any excuse to count a Cuban as an entreprenour

He is hardly an entreprenour. If you have 500 million dollars in baseball contracts, its not hard to take that to 600 million. There are some business that are guaranteed money makers but you just have to have the $$ to start them. I.E. Owning a professional sports team, starting a McDonalds business.

Thank you. You sound like the people I give flat out facts to and what is their response "thats racist". Dominican, Cuban, Latin American. Whatever. Its all the same.

He is not an entreprenour. He made hundreds of millions as a professional athlete. Is Lebron James an enterprenour too? Therer is a big difference in entreprenour and not blowing your money.

And I know a hell of a lot more than you think I do. Like post review is pointless. I bet more people on here agree with me than you think. Thats why they use words like "naggers"

People talk about Edgerrin James as a Hall of Famer. The guy had like 3 good years and then died in Arizona. Also had Peyton all those years. Teams were almost always in dime coverage. Not to mention every running back got yards whern playing with Manning. Not exactly putting 8 men in the box against Peyton.

i think when you become your own brand you are entrepreneurial. the brand is them. not saying its made in the same fashion as others but if you are an athlete and you use that platform to generate into more business thats a good business move. look at the jordan brand, thats the model example that these atheletes are trying to emulate. are you saying jordan isnt an entrepreneur either?

Who says he should be in the hall of fame?

Only people I've ever heard say that are Indy homers

no but thats what guys are trying to do with themselves now. turn their persona or brand into something that last long after their career. no they arent comparable from a money standpoint but thats an athlete turned entrepreneur based off of their success as an athlete.
